This is a good quality photo. The background and foreground are in focus and mostly centered up. It has a pretty good balance and excellent conrast. The clouds add a whole other dimention to it. Although it may be difficult to distinguish depth in this picture, we know that the plane is far away becasue we know how big planes are. Also, the closer object is in the bottom of the frame.

Technology Age

It seems today that we cannot do anything without technology. As if it is already an integrated part into our bodies. We cannot even function without it! I am on my laptop, on the internet most of the day. I take my laptop everywhere; to church, to classes, even to my bed. I always have my iPod handy and am almost never "unconnected". The funny thing is that there are hundreds of thousands of people even more connected than me. They have cell phones, GPS navigators, PDA's, wrist watches that give stock prices and weather reports. It's amazing! My brother can serf the internet through his phone at DSL speeds! This means a connected society sharing everything in real time. A society where nothing goes unnoticed, and no voice is unheard.

Fish Eye

My second favorite thing on fully manual cameras is the lens. There are so many choices and so many different things you can do with them. One of the most intereting is the fish-eye lens. You can use this for anything from some cool skateboarding shots so you can get the skater and a lot of the crowd too. You can use it to take interesting close up shots of things. And here, we see you can use it even for a cool group photo. I have never personally had the opportunity to play with lenses like this, but I enjoy seeing the possibilities.

Culture

Cultures amaze me. I love learning them, seeing them, experiencing them! There are so many things to learn from different cultures and it's sad because as Americans, most of us are not very in tune to these things. This picture is a representation of culture in a huge way. One of the easiest ways to define many cultures to me is by their architecture. The beautiful, sleek, curved edges. The dark colors and the layout. It's all so drastically different from ours and so beautiful! I love to travel...I want to see Japan.

Speed of Life

Wow, life is soo incredibly busy lately. I haven't even been able to keep up! When I saw this image, I instantly thought of all the things I had to do today, and this week. The cars in the picture are the things I have to do, and the road...well, that's me. As you can see many of the things are escaping me in the bottom left corner because I just don't have time. In the bottom right, there are several things on hold. As you can also see, there is a whole flock of stuff heading down the street right for me......I welcome the challenge!

There is not many things that I love more than a fully manual camera. Being able to adjust aperture, shudder speed, focal length...your possibilities are endless. This photo obviously had a very long exposure time creating one of my favorite effects. The cars' headlights streaming across the photo as if it were moving at hundreds of miles per hour while the surrounding scene is calm and peaceful. I can't wait untill I get a DSLR...not that I don't love my little point-and-shoot Cybershot...

My friend James (right) has just arived home from Iraq. He was over there for about a year, often in combat situations and in some very difficult situations with the loss of fellow soldiers in his company. To see him come home seems like such a miracle after hearing everything he went through.

We have all seen the images of war in the news and on the internet. But while James was down there, he brought us here at home images of the real war. Images of Iraqis feeding the American troops that were searching their houses. Pictures of the American troops giving out stuffed animals to the kids. Images showing us that we have freed an opressed people and they are very greatful for the most part. You think this isn't a just war? Ask James about the desperate people down there and the lives that have been changed. I'm sure he could give you a pretty good perspective.

This is a picture of the Hard Rock Cafe in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I loved this place. It was just so fun to take pictures of. To me, it represents warm beaches, blissful days and happy families...on the outside. What's so interesting about the building though is its insides. It is all about Hard Rock, music loving, and world peace? Well, yes, that too. Quite an odd combination I think. Their message is a good one though, "Love all. Serve all." And I believe that is not only their motto for serving in the restaurant but I think the message pertains to life too.

It's so strange how dominated this culture is by advertising and visual media. To America this sign means so mcuh. It is a longstanding company that likes to have the image of "old shool" or "classic". We get that feel throughout the rest of this photo too. It represents a lot about America and our heritage to Americans. It is a symbol of the past and even the present. We all have grown up with Coke and it has become burned into our brains that it always has been and always will be. The symbol for the everyday working man, and a dink for everybody. The funny thing is that Coke is everywhere, and for all we know, every country feels the same way about Coca-Cola. It shows us how internally focused we can be as Americans.

Winter is Coming

I love winter. Despite many people's complaints of bitter cold and slippery roads, I see winter as peaceful. It is just so beautiful when you look out the window and see everything has turned to white. It's so pure, so clean. Everything dirty get's covered with a perfect coat of snow, and it just seems like a fresh "newness". It's coming soon, and although I'm not the biggest fan of the cold, I am looking forward to this season filled with yet one more of God's amazing inventions.

Cats...they are ALL evil! And not only evil but useless. When I see a cat I feel anger most of the time, and I have to admit I think that's pretty weird. Cats are like the "art" in fast food restaurants...useless. It doesn't really serve a purpose, you don't enjoy it, it's just there for the simple fat of having something there. That's what a cat is and that is why I hope to never have one! Plus Garfield (my cat) is the most evil cat of them all.

Tune In To God

Tune In To God

Man, Larry's message was good Sunday morning and for AE to and this was the title slide for his morning message. I made it and represents a lot about hearing God. God is represented by the huge radio tower of course and all people are represented by the person. God is there for us to hear all the time but so often it seems we can't hear Him. Even though he's "broadcasting" this signal all the time why do we always get static? For me, it's because I let other things get in the way, cause interference. Whatever it is we let other things get in the way of God even though He is so big. We have no excuse. We should never let ourselves get so far away from the one that loves us more than anything! I need to tune in to God more...who needs Z93 then?

Man does this slide bring back memories. Breaktime is our youth groups fall retreat and it is just such an awesome experience. That 4H camp we go to isn't the nicest, but I wouldn't want to have it anywhere else. That place just has the right feel and of course holds all those memories of years past. The long, late games of capture the flag, the amazing tackle football games, and the incredible worship. I couldn't count the number of times I have ended face-down on that dirty, nasty floor just crying my eyes out before God, or how many times my life and others lives have just been totally changedin that dinky, worn down room. I can't wait to go back and get that smell again, it's the smell of fall.
