Cross Country

Nazareth Cross Country

I miss my Cross Country days. Most people don't understand it...running, what's so fun about that. Well let me tell you. Cross country is about the adventure, the drive, the competition and the friends. Man the adrenaline you feel when that race is about to start. You feel sick, you're nervous, you almost want out of it...and for some strange reason it's awesome. You jump off that starting line knowing the expectations upon you: your expectation and your whole teams expectations. You want to accomplish something, do better than you ever have before. You see people that beat you before and you find the strength to pass them, you find the desire to run even faster when your body tells you to quit.

It hurts, sometimes the whole way, but I gotta tell ya, it hurts even more when you stop. That first 5 minutes after the race it kills. A shooting pain through your lungs, your muscles completely shut down, all to an further extreme when it's cold.

Somehow, through it all, it's still all so great, so rewarding. The next hour after your race is so calm and relaxing it's like heaven. And the people you're around alone makes it all worth it. I miss it, all of it.

Lego People

I love toys. I used to play with all the cool toys. Legos, matchbox cars, Barbies (yes, I proudly admit to playing with Barbies), and my personal favorite, Jurassic Park figurines. Those toys were so cool and lifelike. The dinosaurs had rubbery skin, the cars had parts that could fall off and rockets to shoot out, and Dennis Nedry had arms that the dinosaurs could bite off (this is called "Dino Damage"). Not to mention that was one of the greatest movies ever. Anyway, those are the memories that this picture brought back.

Photography. I love taking photos. I bought my first (and only) camera two years ago for my trip to Guatemala. I love the photos I've taken and love looking at others photos. Flickr is the best invention ever! I haven't updated mine in a while, but just knowing that I have the ability to take pictures and share them with millions (or just twenties) of people. But having the ability to fully control the shutter speed, aperture, focus and all. This photo is just an example of all of these things. The creativity, the wide viewer base, the ease of manipulation, all easily accessable. An amazing world of sharing amazing resources to all...that's what society should be about.

Music is awesome. I could easily spend days and days just sitting around doing nothing but listening to music. The lyrics, the sounds, the amazing compositions. Sometimes those words just hit the spot and say exactly what you're feeling and sometimes you just need to hear a good jam. Music is an amazing art and I love every bit of it. This picture just makes me want to grab a nice pair of studio headphones, an iPod, and go find solitude with Coldplay, Mae, Project 86, Blindside, and Michael W. Smith. Makes me want to finally learn guitar.

The Amazing Place for College

Ahhh, advertising. Some people say that any advertising is good, even if it's annoying. In some cases, yes. But in many, such as this lovely Clark State ad, it is a definate turn off. It just makes me think about how terrible their administration must be to allow ads like this. It definately takes Clark State down a couple notches in my book. It's like those Hidy Honda commercials. Sure, it got stuck in my head, but they have also driven me to the resolution of NEVER EVER shopping at Hidy Honda. Same wtih Clark State. They just present this totally ridiculous ad campaign that puts them in a place in my mind that says stay away!

It just makes me feel warm and happy. It makes me think of Frisbee Football, sand volleyball, swimming, bon-fires, and endless times with friends. For me, those times never get old. They're something that I hold in my memory and bring it back when I feel stressed or overloaded. I feel like that a ot this school year so far...so this is a good backdrop for me.

All I can say is that Aaron did an awesome job on this poster. It just screams music. Dirty is definately my favorite lok for graphic design and this one hits the spot! It's just eye catching and if I had a band, this would definately make me want to check it out...heck, even if I didn't have a band! It's just that excellence to show that when we do this we're going to do our best and go all the way. Gets the message across and looks absolutely fabulous. It comunicates the spirit of music and the look that we're going for. And that is how it's done...

Airport

Travel. I love the airport! I love walking around, waiting around. This summer I went to Guatemala and flew Delta. My flight on the wayback to Dayton was cancelled and I had to spend the night on the floor. I have to admit, despite the bad situation, it was still really fun! New places, new cultures, interesting people seeing and meeting all of them are awesome experiences. This picture just brings back all those memories. Guatemala is just so beautiful and unforgettable and I love all (well, most) of the people I met there. But most of all, I miss the airport.

This shirt obviously has a lot of memories tied to it (memories which I missed while in Guatemala) but I think it reflects on the spirit of my friends. When I see that image I think of how awesome, hilarious, off-the-wall, and other words that have not been invented yet. Plus any mutilation of the Ken doll just brings joy to my heart. Again, props to Emily.

They make me think of outside and playing Frisbee football and playing basketball. Shoes make me think of fun for some strange reason. And backdrops...well they are just art. One of the few forms of art that I really enjoy. I'll change my backdrop sometimes twice in a day. They're just so...darn goodlooking! Mad props to Josh on this one...I love pretty much all of his stuff.

I love the night lights over an athletic field. I gives me a sense of adrenaline and competitiveness. It reminds me of my baseball days. Getting pumped up for the game, feeling that anticipation of getting ready to play. Knowing that very move you make is being watched and examined. Ok, so it was only Babe Ruth league baseball, but it was always a big deal to me. Most of my friends know that I am very competitive and I just get an adenaline running through me when I see an image like this. I do miss it and would defiantly take any opportunity to do something like that again. Maybe I'll try out for Cedarville baseball.

I made this logo today and I am really digging it. Aaron helped me add some clarity to it with the opaque boxy thing (good idea bro). I like it because it feels clean and sharp even though it has a bit of a grundge feel at the same time. Good contrast, recognizeable logo, and "hella tight". I would definately go to a concert at a place with this logo just because when I feel like somebody is trying to do everything with excellence then the show should be good too. I hope this has that effect on others. We'll be using it for our new concert series this school year at WFFC.
