Disaster

I knew Katrina was going to be devastating. I knew New Orleans was going to be hit pretty bad, but I had no idea the extent of the destruction. The images on Yahoo! News were unbelievable. I couldn't even comprehend what these people were going through and how much they had lost. I felt such a feeling of despair and helplessness. This image really captured that despair for me. A seemingly endless expanse of flooded streets, people wandering, looking for refuge or lost loved ones. The pain and difficulty of being there is still beyond me, but the photos on Yahoo really helped me connect with what was going on across the country.

As Gas prices shoot up in the aftermath, and Ohio gets it's own sample of Katrina I just continue to realize that there is no comparison. An entire area of the country completely devastated and drowned underwater. The years of rebuilding will be tough and hopefully pictures on the news and internet will remind me to keep praying.
